2. Administrative departments
Academic Committee is responsible for making decisions concerning academic research and relevant affairs of IASEC, steering its academic research, and drawing up research plans and implementation procedures.
Teaching Committee is responsible for guiding and managing teaching procedures and relevant affairs of IASEC, and especially promoting and implementing its masters, Ph. D, and post-doctoral programs and joint overseas education programs.
General Affairs Office is responsible for routine administrative affairs of IASEC, including its personnel, financial, teaching, research and foreign affairs.
3. Research departments
Aiming at specific countries and academic fields, IASEC has set up a French Research Institute, a German Research Institute, a British Research Institute, a Greek-Roman Research Institute, and a Fine Arts and General Arts Research Institute.

4. Academic teams
As a prestigious academic platform, IASEC is committed to academic research and innovations, and at the same time obliged to work out a mechanism for the institutional academic innovation. Under the guidance of its Academic Committee composed of leading international scholars, IASEC has picked and recruited research fellows that fall into four categories as follows:
A. Chair professors. IASEC would hire renowned scholars from home and abroad who shall be engaged in international research projects of their own, compose their own research teams to carry out their research tasks at IASCE, and after the projects are accomplished, the research results shall be accredited to IASCE. Chair professors of IASEC would also be encouraged to bid for key projects funded by China National Fund for Social Sciences or the Ministry of Education, and for the purpose of such projects they can compose their own research teams or employ research fellows recruited by IASEC from SJTU and external institutions, and after the projects are accomplished, the results shall be accredited to IASEC.
B. Visiting professors and distinguished visiting professors. IASEC would invite scholars from home and abroad to bid for positions as visiting professors at IASCE. The visiting professors would be encouraged to work out their own projects or bid for projects of IASEC, and after the projects are accomplished, the results shall be accredited to IASEC.
C.Special research fellows. IASEC would recruit special research fellows from the all over China. Such special research fellows can compose their own research teams to carry out theme research projects, and after the projects are accomplished, the results shall be accredited to IASEC.
D. Project-based research fellows. IASEC would offer such positions to teachers and post-doctoral fellows who have completed their research projects at SJTU. The home-based scholars would enjoy a paid sabbatical leave of half a year or a whole year when they can carry out their own themed research projects, and after the projects are accomplished, the results shall be accredited to IASEC. Home-based scholars who are faculty members of IASEC shall return to their original posts, while post-doctoral fellows may enter the faculty of IASEC, if they really qualify.
