The 4th "Philosophy Month" of Shanghai Jiaotong University was held at Minhang Campus on May 8th.

Professor Chen Jiaming, dean of the Department of Philosophy and Distinguished Professor of the School of Humanities, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a short speech. Later, Professor Wu Guanjun from East China Normal University brought the first lecture : Humanity Worries: Political Philosophy and Technological Philosophy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.

Professor Zhao Dunhua from the Department of Philosophy of Peking University brought a second lecture on the theme of “Viewing Modern Theory of Knowledge from the perspective of Arriad and Platoism”. Professor Zhao Dunhua gave a detailed introduction to Plato's theory of ideas and his influence on later Western philosophy and the prejudice of modern people.

As an extension of the general education, "Philosophy Month" is jointly organized by the Department of Philosophy of the School of Humanities of Shanghai Jiaotong University, the Institute of Advanced Study in European Culture of Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Chaozhou Bookstore. It mainly invites well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad to come to the school and carry out philosophical theme lectures. It aims to further create a humanistic atmosphere and expand students' philosophy and cultural vision. This "Philosophy Month" event includes five academic lectures covering political philosophy, Western philosophy, pre-Qin and Han dynasties, classical Confucianism, and philosophy of science and technology. It will bring a feast of thought to the teachers and students who love philosophy.
